About OLLIE

Instructors, if you would like your students to take the OLLIE test and you have a Blackboard course, request that the OLLIE test zip file be uploaded to your course. You decide when your students take the test, how many attempts they can make, and how their scores are calculated in your Blackboard grade book.

Due to technical considerations, as of Fall 2009 the quiz is no longer available online outside of Blackboard. Instructors, if you do not have a Blackboard course, request receipt of the test as a Word document to distribute to your students. You will also receive a key for the test so that you can score the results. Request the OLLIE non-Blackboard test file.

OLLIE requires Flash Player version 8 or higher. Tell me what version I have on my computer right now.

Each OLLIE unit takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. OLLIE performs best on high-speed connections.

The tutorial units are small "movies." Use the control bar which appears at the bottom of the movie window to reset, pause/play, or move one frame at a time. Click and drag on the slider to more forward or backward quickly.

OLLIE units are designed to be accessible to screen readers such as JAWS through use of alternative text embedded in each Flash movie.

Created in 2003 by a group of librarians at the John M. Pfau Library at California State University San Bernardino: Stacy Magedanz, Bonnie Petry, Barbara Quarton, Brent Singleton, and Jill Vassilakos-Long, with the assistance of a grant from the CSUSB Teaching Resource Center.
