Media Services The library's video collection is now housed at the Circulation Desk, 1st floor, Pfau Library. New circulation policies (loan periods & limits) are now in effect, please see http://www.lib.csusb.edu/about/circulation.cfm#Responsibilities. The location of videos and DVDs is noted as "Media (CircDesk-1stFl): Videotapes," or"Media/DVD (Circ Desk/1st Fl)." The call numbers for videocassette titles are given 4-digit numbers (e.g., VHSC 4525). The call numbers for DVD titles are given regular library call numbers (e.g., DVDC P96.I73 C6 2004 ). Please present these call numbers, including the VHSC or DVDC designations at the Circulation Desk when requesting these items. Note that those items with call numbers beginning with the designations, VHSD, or DVDD, are located in the Library's InfoDen (PL-5005). If eligible, users would check out such materials in the InfoDen. On-site (in the Library) viewing equipment is available in the InfoDen, as well as in the room (PL-111) adjoining the Microforms Room. Items from this collection are included in the library's online catalog (these may be found by searching for "videorecording" as a keyword).
Requests for media (video and/or DVDs) placed on Reserve are now handled by the Library's Reserve Desk. When placing items on reserve, please allow a minimum of 3 days, as backlogs in processing may result in slight delays in making these materials available to students.
The library's collection of more than 2,700 music CDs is housed at this service point, in PL-5005.
The library also retains a collection of vinyl LP's (Long-Playing records). These items are restricted to faculty and staff check-out only. In the catalog, LPs are designated as "Music Storage: Audio LP's, Fac/Staff Only" and given a call number. Authorized users wishing to retrieve items from this collection can request them at least 24 hrs in advance on a weekday at the library's Circulation Desk. If the Circulation Desk is busy, you may need to leave the title and call number information and pick up the item at another time specified by circulation staff. Turntables and CD players are available in the Music Listening Facility for onsite listening by CSUSB faculty, staff and students.
