Automation
Automation Services supports the Library's electronic infrastructure of hardware, software, and telecommunications and makes recommendations for the enhancement of same in order to best serve University instruction and research. |

Cataloging
The library's Cataloging department is responsible for the cataloging and processing (including repairs) of monographic library materials in all formats. In addition, the department performs catalog maintenance and authority control functions to enhance access to the library's collections. |

Collection Development
Collection Development is responsible for the ordering of all library materials, including electronic resources, serials, continuations, books, microfilm and fiche, audio and videotapes, maps, CDs, and processes gifts. |

Interlibrary Loan
The interlibrary loan (ILL) service enables our faculty, students, and staff to borrow titles that are not owned in our collection, titles in our collection but currently checked out, and titles listed as lost/missing. Books that may not be requested include items currently on Reserve in the Library, and which are currently used as textbooks at CSUSB. |

InfoDen & Music
The Info Den/Music Listening Facility is the point of access to the Library's collection of educational software, CD-ROMs, music CD's, and specialized equipment for viewing/listening. |

Reference

Serials and Electronic Resources
The library's Serials and Electronic Resources department is responsible for managing, cataloging, and processing of all the library's periodical subscriptions, book series on standing order, and database subscriptions. |

Special Collections
CSUSB's first library director, Arthur E. Nelson, began purchasing books for the collection before the campus was built! He was appointed by CSUSB founding president John M. Pfau in April 1963. When the campus opened in September of 1965 Pfau Library's collections included some rare books and archival materials and the collections grew over the subsequent years. |
