Library Associates

Community members are invited to join the Library Associates to obtain library cards and to support the activities of the library.

Purpose of the Library Associates

1. To promote the relationship between the University, its library, and the community.

2. To increase public awareness of the resources and services of the CSUSB Library.

3. To sponsor cultural programs such as exhibits, lectures and other events.

4. To provide access to CSUSB library resources for those who would not otherwise be able to make use of the  collections.

5. To provide recognition for the literary activities of members.

6. To promote growth of the library by seeking and accepting gifts of library materials as well as monetary contributions.

As a member of the CSUSB Library Associates you would be able to make use of the Library, including borrowing of library materials on the same basis - and subject to the same regulations - as CSUSB students, reference assistance, and low cost interlibrary loan service ($5 per request).  When school is in session, the library is open 86 hours per week including five evenings, making this the most accessible library in the area.  Our collection currently includes some 680,000 books as well as over 1,800 current periodical subscriptions, on-line periodicals, microformat materials, maps, documents, art prints, tapes and pamphlets. Sorry, licensing contracts do not allow Associates off-campus access to library databases.

Membership applications are available at the Circulation Desk, Pfau Library 1st floor, whenever the library is open. Membership payment may be made at the Desk in the form of check or cash; credit/bank cards are not accepted.

*All memberships expire June 1. Persons joining in these two categories less than six months before June 1 should pay one-half of the stated amount.
