About
The Information Jungle
ORIGINALLY,
the Internet was compared to a highway but this implied something that's
well organized and familiar to everyone. In actuality, the Internet
more closely resembles a complex jungle ecosystem, particularly if you
do not have a technical background.
The
Information Jungle is a Web tutorial specially designed by a librarian
for anyone who needs to use the Internet for university-level classes.
By completing a series of seven short, self-paced lessons in plain English,
you will gain a good, basic knowledge of what the Internet is and how
to use it for your research. You only need to know how to use a
computer keyboard and a mouse to begin!
It is
recommended that you complete the lessons in the order given for best
results. There are study questions for each lesson and a list of
further resources if you want more to explore.
As
you go through the lessons, watch for these graphics:
The red beetle highlights warnings;
the bird of paradise highlights hints.
