Pfau Library Special Collections
CSUSB's first library director, Arthur E. Nelson, began purchasing books for the collection before the campus was
built! He was appointed by CSUSB founding president John M. Pfau in April 1963. When the campus opened in September
of 1965 Pfau Library's collections included some rare books and archival materials
and the collections grew over the subsequent years.
The Special Collections Department of Pfau Library was established in the Fall of 2008. Our Grand Opening celebration was held on November 19, 2008.
To use any of the collections come in to Pfau Library Special Collections. Bring a state-issued photo ID. We're open weekday mornings
(9 a.m.-noon) and Wednesday afternoon and evening. To use Special Collections
at other times call (909)537-5112 for an appointment.
